OCR (Optical Character Recognition) Text in TechnoRiverStudio

TechnoRiverStudio includes the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Text Object as part of its feature set to help you you design labels that can be read by OCR scanners or softwares. TechnoRiver supports the OCR-A and OCR-B character sets. The shapes, sizes and positions of these characters are defined by the ANSI standard (ANSI INCITS 17-1981 , ANSI X3.49-1975) , and are used widely in many organizations.

Each character set comes in 3 different sizes - Size I, Size II and Size IV. They are generated by various devices such as typewriters, printers, cash registers and credit card printers.

• OCR-B IV

Each OCR character set (examples are some characters used in Euro banking) contains its own special symbols. TechnoRiverStudio supports these through a symbol dialog.

The OCR fonts are commonly incorporated into barcodes. The examples below show EAN 13 barcodes with human readable text in the OCR-A I and OCR-B I fonts.
